Around We Go

Keeping myself busy with all my indoor plants until I can get into the muddy garden.

Trimmings from a Vinca Vine plant can be easily turned into a little wreath.

The Winter Garden; A Restless Gardener

Nearing the end of February and it should not surprise anyone that we are covered in snow in a zone 4 garden.  Some of our heaviest snows will occur in this month and next.

Garden Textures

IMG-6691.JPG

The last few growing seasons I have worked on bringing in some new plantings and textures into the garden.  Conifers have been finding their places into the landscape.

Even in a zone 4 garden and it’s size constraints there are so many design options.

Dwarf, columnar, and weeping specimens.

Colors that vary from green, blue, silvers and golden.

I miss my garden during these long winter months but creating garden textures that break up the white ground really helps.  Of coarse I have found a few spots for just a couple more!

A Little Greenhouse

IMG-6449.jpg

This blog all started with this little greenhouse.

As this year closes and a long break from blogging; I have a renewed desire to continue the story of my little garden and sharing how each of the seasons open and close here in this zone 4 climate.

I’m grateful for so many garden friends who reached out to encourage me to keep going and just check on me; garden friends are truly the nicest!

Look for me to show up here on a more regular basis starting in January and I hope to provide just a tiny bit of inspiration.

The garden is always changing and so is the gardener!

Garden Inspiration

IMG-2264.JPG

I absolutely loved this house with it’s wrap around porch that I spied while on vacation in Maine this past summer.

The simplicity of multiple pots of Eucalyptus lined up on the edge of the porch stopped me in my tracks.

The plants gently swayed in the breeze that was bringing in salty air from the water.

An inspiration for my own garden this summer.

Where do you find garden inspiration?

Buried In Winter

Winter still has a firm grip on the garden.  I’ve struggled with Blogging over the last year and have wondered if I should still continue the journaling of the little garden.  Maybe when the snow melts and the garden begins to wake up-I will too.

Great Balls Of Fire

Now this is my kind of Autumn weather!

I was able to spend an entire day out in the garden, trying to clean up spent perennials and even got a few bulbs planted.  Sunshine has been very scarce and I had felt my mood began to darken along with the weather.  The Burning Bush is like a big cup of coffee for my soul!
